Trove Gallery

Ned and I discovered Trove Gallery when we visited Park City, Utah in July. Our delight in all the works encouraged us to meander around twice. Excellent craftsmanship, imagination, whimsey, originality, and beauty characterized what was curated in the Trove. The owner of the gallery was a lovely hostess who answered our questions and offered much information of many of the pieces that we lingered over. Diana Stetson was my favorite (see the image on Scrapbook landing page). Her multilayered work of stencils, paints, cut wall paper, and painted birds and branches fascinated me. It was nice to get up close to the painting to see the detailed work unclose and not be told, “Step away from the painting, ma’am” like what happens to me in a museum. Wendy Chidester’s paintings of the record player and the tricycle were perfect. The large size and colors, as well as the precisely painted images brought us over to them often. Ben Steele’s painting of Matisse’s Pieces and Pop Art were whimsical and masterly painted (look for all the pop culture references of each piece). I adored the dresses—the styles and colors— of Patricia Canney . Lastly the dreamy, otherworldliness faces of Debra Fritts’s sculptures, as well as their imaginative bodies or wings or antlers really grabbed my heart. They were at once beautiful and strange. Ned and I also enjoyed the reimagined skateboards of George Peterson. (Below click each photo to see the title and an enlarged image from the website.)
